Looking for recommendations on size of troll motor for a 21' center console. I've been going back and forth between 24v/80lb and 36v/105lb and wanted to see if anyone had experience with this boat or similar. Plan is to use in fresh water primarily for crappie fishing.
Thanks, David

From what I have seen you can never have too much thrust in tm. I've never heard anyone say their tm has too much power. If you have room for 3 batteries go with a 36 volt. Especially if you have a t top.

I have an Epic 22sc which is a little bit bigger with more freeboard so it catches a lot of wind. I went with the Xi5 80# with group 31 batteries and find it to be more then enough. I don't tournament fish anymore but have run it all day bass fishing in 15+ mph winds and didn't run the batteries down enough to worry. I also occasionally use it to troll for white bass and it will pull my rig at 2.5 - 3 mph as well.
Oh BTW my first post on here. Been creeping on this site for months and registered a few weeks ago. I read a lot but don't post much.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Additional question I have is do you think 54" would be enough or should I go with 60"? I measured bow to waterline of 28" which is kind of borderline based on size charts I've seen. Would prefer 54" if it'd work but don't want to have to continually worry about prop coming out of the water if it would be pushing it.
Thanks David

If you're just going to fish quiet coves and back water the 54" will suffice. For open water you'll definitely want the 60".

Everybody covered the sizing well so all I will add is if you are looking for a mounting plate that addresses all the problems with mounting a Xi5, please take a look at the LiftSaver at www.liftsavertmmount.com to see if it will help your installation. It provides a more stable mounting platform, allows you to position the tm for your best fit, covers all existing holes and you don't need to drill new holes in your boat and it protects your Xi5 during launching and docking of your boat. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me on here or my contact info is on the website. Thank you for looking.

I appreciate all of the responses. I went ahead and ordered the 36V/105LB/60" XI5 with GPS as recommended. I'll follow-up with a report of pics/review once I get it installed.
Thanks, David
