What are your recommendations for replacement front & rear sights?
Anything similar to Glock's U & dot or Sig's 3 dot?
And are they user-replaceable or is this something for a gunsmith?

Finally saved enough pocket change to get the 357 I've been drooling over for years to find it's got pretty near the worst sights I've ever seen on a pistol. Love it in spite of this fault.
Also asked at the Hunting Forum.

I am not familiar with the GP100, but Brownell's would be a good place to start.

I like my glock u/. a lot now that I did them in offset colors. flour. orange front/flour yellow rear.

no searching for them to line up, it comes automatic now that they are different colors.

found this on the ruger site.

not sure if these work on your gun but this is the configuration I like best, green back/red front. seems to be easier to pick up the darker color on front.

The sights on the GP100 are actually very good. What is it that you don't like?

This is what I have on mine, and I have no complaints. I wish I could tell you what brand they are but I had them put on almost 30 years ago by Jerry Peebles at the same time he did a trigger job on it (1 kilo single action pull).

It has a logo on it but I don't recognize it, probably long out of business.

They look like Millet's ^^

I could see replacing the front with a fiber optic red if you can't see....like mentioned above, Brownells has everything

both front and rear sights are easily user replaceable. Depending on whim I change out between the standard iron sights, fiber optic sights and a millet red dot.

The front sight is removed by depressing the plunger just beneath the front sight blade and tilting the blade out.

The rear sight is held down with a screw and a cross pin. Remove screw from top, drive pin out.

Very well could be Millet sights, those were very popular back then. You can't tell in the pic but the rear is serrated horizontally to eliminate glare on the black area.

I like a white front post or a white front dot with rear white post. Can't stand 3-dots but that's just me, I'd prefer plain black all around to any 3-dot.

You can also get Ruger sights at Numrich (gunparts.com). There are quite a few sights made for the GP100 (will fit many other Ruger revolvers) but you have to track them down one by one at the mfg's web site like XS Sights redhawk,gp100 at XS
