Jon still wants to know where his bottle is BTW. It came up in conversation the other day. The "other day" must have been a long time ago because Jon has had his bottle for at least 6 months. Let's ask him now shall we? Well chit... That did not work how I expected lol It has been awhile but he did mention it at the time which was awhile back It's all good. JonS a friend. But he's been owing me a brake job for two years... I have to Fred Flintstone stop my truck. SMDH I concur. JonS is good people. I can knock a break job out in an afternoon. First I have heard of this...

Dan, I realize your all #saltlife and all, but since it sounds like your gonna be wading alone, take a few precautions (there are many but this is just a few of the most common ones)...... Better safe than sorry, and have a great trip.......
1) Its always better to have a fishing buddy when wading in current (if you see somebody else wading down there try and partner up with them), but if alone don't get any deeper than your 2015 woman of the year nipplets, if you feel yourself beginning to get sucked out, then back out. No matter how strong of a swimmer you think you are a strong current will wear you out in deeper water, and remember cross current is the path out if you get in trouble not against it. I don't think currents will be too big of a concern for next week but you never know and things can change fast, lone waders take no chances!
2) If for whatever reason you feel the need to use a stringer or a bait bucket use one with at least 20' of cord on it, any bait snooping is best done as far away from you as possible.
3) Don't stay still for more than a few minutes at a time, keep moving laterally across the current stopping occasionally (pacing back and fourth if you will). Surf patrolling bulls prefer a stationary target as opposed to a moving one, no point in tempting anything unnecessarily. You already mentioned the Icky shuffle which is good practice.
4) If you feel a bump on your legs (or anywhere else for that matter) don't hesitate, don't look to find out what it was, don't even wonder what it was, and don't panic, just head for the shallow ASAP, meat eaters can sense panic in prey. As dirty as the water is gonna be you probably wont be able to see what it was anyway, and even if you did chances are you'd wish you hadn't.

Had to layoff 7 good people.
It's been heavy on my mind. And I don't see that there's going to be an end to this too soon. Nor am I naive enough to think that the same conversations are not being had about me at the level above me.
But it's over for today.
Off for 12 days. Got a house at Jamaica beach for 7 days. #saltlife
Plan on spending time with my lady and my puppy, grilling, reading, laying on the sand with a drink and catching a shark.
That's right I'm all rigged up to go try shark fishing. Got wire leaders and all.
Fair warning Galveston sharks. Tuesday thru Saturday, I'm coming for you.
I'm in Denton county this weekend for the High School state championship on ray Roberts but will be back on the coast Sunday night. I've been smashing the specks in the guts brah, and haven't even been rolling coal. And I had to wade in and put my fish in the cooler last Saturday due to lots of 3-4' black tips working hard around me. Pm me if you wanna get in on some wild surf wading Bruh I'm all in! Sharks are my game. I'll get out there with em. When I was down there last year your tips helped me catch that nice spec. But we were with two other couples and had to do a bunch of non fishing related stuff. I'm fishing Tues thru Saturday this time... between the grilling and Chilling with the lady. PM sent DanO, do you answer texts or just the forum? I've been texting you, are you here yet? You sir may have just lucked out and hit this thing right. Surf is laying down the next 2 days, got a light North East wind that's clearing it up as we speak, and the moon is right, I mean right.I'll be at SLP after work, around 7:00 p.m. Call or text, you've got my number. Big bite tonight from 5:00 to 7:00. If they cooperate, getting 10 specks is quick and easy. I'll bring you a big lady fish I've been saving so you can have some good shark bait for tomorrow. 10 miles south of Jamaica Beach you hit the bridge, bring cash, it's $2.00 each way. Let's meet at Brights Bait, on your right after you cross the bridge. ah yea! http://www.galveston.com/babes-beach-video-cam/

Good talking to you though and I appreciate the tips I'm going to go try out your spot tomorrow! Several guys told me that the surf has been fishing great this evening! Hope you slayed em. I made the wrong pic and was on the bay side but it's beautiful down here anyway! Minus the severe thunderstorm last night it's just been awesome.

You have nothing in common with Mitt Romney if you don't like to fire people.

Dan I'm expecting pics today!
It's shaping up to a good one. Might be a little wave action this morning, but that spot is MUCH better with some waves.
Last night my spot was full of mullet, smacks were getting airborne all around me and some big jacks were herding and blasting big mullet 10' in front of me. It was green to the beach, and blue water was almost in reach. I managed one speck and had a big lady fish on, about 150 yards south of the spot I mentioned. It was the lowest tide I've seen and without any guts there I think those trout move out at low tide.
High tide this morning it should be full of specks. I ALMOST called in sick with speckled trout fever today. This work thing really sucks.
