Lakeview Motel (936) 897-2102 1/4 mile from the Cassels Boykin ramp The store there has a short order grill with everything else a convenience store has except fuel. The rooms are recently remodeled and are plenty clean. 5 minutes from restaurants and 25 minutes from Lufkin.

What part of the lake do you want to be on?
Rayburn Country, Bass Buster(has new name, cannot remember), Jackson Hill, Janes Shady Acres. There are a bunch of places to stay. Others will be on here soon to provide input or abuse.

Can we get a sticky thread with the lodging options around Rayburn? It seems like it is every week someone asks about it.

Love staying in that neighborhood! Had a place right by the ramp for years that we rented until he sold it late last year. Stayed at Mike and Cathy's place in January and it was perfect.

Hi Paul. I recommend any of the above locations. I live here and fish on the bass team at SFA College. I know the lake very well. I am very very familiar with the North end of Sam and the South end up around the bayou. If you have an open seat and want to take a local I'll show you around. We can take my boat or yours. I love fishing with new people and learning different techniques. Message me if interested. God Bless, Garrett

I have cabins and a couple houses close to Powell Park on the south end of the lake. All my info is in my signature. Contact me anytime to discuss or to talk about fishing before you get here.

God Bless, Garrett Sent you a PM Jigflippa..got to fish 2 of the Univ of Wyoming Fishing Team 3 years ago..had a blast after I explained that 12lb test doesn't really translate to 12lb Bass (few break offs).

I think there are several threads out there on this subject, and I agree maybe it should be a sticky. I like to stay at Jackson Hill. People will tell you the rooms aren't very nice and clean. Agreed, they are not the best but if you're there to fish then I don't think it gets better. They have a covered boat dock with good night fishing for crappie to kill the time and nice launch facilities. The food is good and they have tackle as well.
Wherever you end up, make sure you lock your deck lids and/or bring your rods inside. The thieves in the area do not discriminate on where they prowl and it seems every year there are guys getting all their stuff stolen because they didn't feel like bringing it inside.
If you do stay up that way (Jackon Hill or Cassels) there's good fishing just be sure to know the boat lanes or follow someone that looks like they know (at your own risk!). I don't know squat about the lower end of the lake by the dam. Good luck!
