Thinking about trying this the next time i go out. I know topwaters, and spinnerbaits work well during the shad spwan, but has anyone ever tried a jerkbait?

Caught a nice one the other day off some rip rap on one. Only threw it for about 15 minutes before it got dark.

Some nobody named Kevin Van Dam caught a few in a tournament on Conroe in the shad spawn a couple of months ago.

Depends on water clarity whether I throw it or not. Good visibility and it kills.

Yes fish have been hitting a jerkbait on Texoma for weeks. Brim patterns on bright days, gold back, red belly on cloudy days. A slight breeze has to be blowing. Flat calm shuts the jerkbait bite down it seems.

I find it amazing. KVD has ridden one of several jerkbaits he helped design for Strike King all season long. Now a bunch of other guys are throwing them far more than was typical in the past. That KVD guy, he's all washed up!
Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

There are some youtube videos on why you should throw a jerk bait during the shad spawn.
In one of KVD's video's he says that he will throw it if the water clarity is good, and if it isn't he said that other baits work better in stained or off colored water and he will choose them instead. Now im not sure just how clear he is talking about.

That KVD guy, he's all washed up! No kidding. Home with a sick baby today so I've been watching Live and several of the leaders are throwing a jerk bait.

Y'all reckon there's still a shad spawn going on at Lake Livingston ? I was out there about a week ago and there wasn't that morning but a front had just passed through and it was a cooler morning.

I think some have thrown jerk baits more frequently than they let the general public know. I know of some heavy cover big line guys that have thrown them all year long for years. They just kind of have kept it under the radar...
