Caught a bright Golden colored cat today on Towakini, the tail was rounded, not forked, it had a shorter rounder body then a channel or a blue, the color was a BRIGHT gold, a lot like a goldfish color, no photo and the fish was only about 8"'s so had to throw it back (Caught it on Shad. Any ideas? btw: It DEFFINATELY was a Catfish.

Thanks, BUT
as stated before, it was BRIGHT GOLD, deffinately not yellow
Wished I had paid more attention to its fins.
I have seen a yellow cat many times.
Further info: I am 72 yrs old and have fished many waters in many places, my fishing partners are also very experianced fishers (In this area, and others) They too expressed disbelief in this coloration as something they had never seen.

Sounds like a very young flathead catfish, but they're more olive/yellow colored in those waters than golden. You'll find them brindled-colored in clearwater lakes and rivers.

Beambuster,
That was my first thought, when I saw it, the BRIGHT gold really confused me. as I always heard that the young usually were darkish colored... Thanks everyone
