Do you fellas drift or troll? Sometimes there isn't enough wind or current o drift, so I have to get on my oars. I find that the trolling motor is too powerful. With the oars I can get the boat barely moving, and the natural pulse from the oars give a good presentation of fleeing prey.
It hit me that with the oar I'm able to "vary the retrieve" just like with rod and reel. The good thing is the line stays in the water.
How do you fellas deal with lack of wind or current?

Use that trollin motor and take those baits right down the alley... At times you can't beat it...

If there is wind I prefer drifting but with no wind I use the trolling motor. I have auto pilot which makes it much easier. My boat is a heavier boat so using the oars won't do me any good but wear me out fast but if you have a kayak or smaller aluminum boat I could see it being effective.

Shoot I haven't had a day off where the wind wasn't blowing!

With little or no wind, I fish below Guntersville Dam. Plenty of current there for the first mile or so for drift fishing.

Technically you're still in a "drift" just a controlled drift. but like everyone said, it'll put the bait right in catfish alley

We drift. Very seldom when I fish there is no wind. If there happens to be now wind, then we drop the trolling motor, run it just enough to get the boat to move.
