Conroe is unique due to no grass, heavy pressure, and very rough at times due to the boat traffic and bulk heads on the south end. For me, the secret is finding structure and drop offs (probably good for any lake). The two cheapest items that helped me early on were a Hook N Line map and the Navionics app for your phone. The app is only $10 and shows contours to 1 ft. Since Conroe has full cell coverage you can see exactly where you are and depths on the lake without fancy electronics. The on-line version is free to view so taking time to study the lake area you want to fish beforehand really helps picking those spots. Then, make a plan of attack and fish your spots in a set order. On your next trip fish those same spots but at a different time of day or maybe reverse order. The Hook N Line map for Conroe has over 100 recommended spots depending on the time of year. Hint: Look for the pond dams!

I hope it pays off! Thanks

Hope you have a good trip. Report back with GPS coordinates, lure selection, and what time you catch your fish.... If any!

How did yall do on Conroe? Caught 3 cranking on rip rap, 4 flipping docks/brush, and 1 on a swim jig. No big ones but a couple decent keepers. only stayed out til about 11 so it was an alright day overall.
