I bought 2 of them several years ago- Although I don't use it every time I go out, one is still good, the other didn't last 2 years- According to your usuable budget, when they are working they seem to do fine- That being said, the still working one is just used as a spare if someone coming needs one- I just don't want to be using that reel if I'm lucky enough to hook up to a good one- It's not an abu, but doesn't cost like an abu either-
There are times in my life I had to drive a ford escort, when I could afford a better car that's what I bought -

I really don't remember exactly what went wrong sorry- It was something about it not reeling correctly- Someone I trust completely (Fred) had told me repairs were not a good idea with the kings and he was the best reel man I know- I just realized it was a "throw away" reel and when I didn't trust it anymore it was time to trash it- Over the years for me I decided that I would rather have a used abu I could pick up at a pawn shop or garage sale that could be repaired/upgraded if I wanted/needed rather than buy anymore throw away reels-

It's nice to year people's experience with these reel after a few years on them. That's the only way to know. I figure they'd last much longer since they Abu copies, but I guess not.
Still if anyone wants to buy one just go ahead and buy it directly from one of the Chinese manufacturers on Aliexpress.

What are some of the issues with these reels? The name first off...Ming yang translates to piece of junk in Chinese.. Only Abu Garcia c3 6500s I ever replace are ones that are laying on the bottom of Lake Lewisville.

I've never seen one in person. Someone sent me a video a few years back of the head of the brotherhood catfish site saying they was the newest thing and would put Abu out of business. He even grabbed his throat to show how they was killing Abu. Another example of the latest and greatest catfish reel was the Roddy by Penn. Another fine example of a class A #1 nothing. The guy in the tackle business North of Dallas had him some reels made and proclaimed them to be guaranteed for X# of years, then took em off the market another flop. These people who push this cheap latest and greatest replacement for the Abu, well they are the people making money off of them. In short just con men.
