Hey guys have a question hopefully someone can help me out with. Bought a alumacraft 165 classic cs with a evinrude etec 75 brand new off the cabelas show room floor in 2012. It has the no feed back steering. Off and on since I've had it it would lose steering to the left until I got off the throttle then it'd pick back up and allow me to turn left. Now it's getting to where it frequently won't turn either direction until I slow down to a crawl. The wheel will turn and turn and turn but no response at the motor. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also if your wondering why I didn't take it back to cabelas for warranty work I tried and tried and tried again to the point where had I actually got into contact with the steaming pile of poo responsible for the service of their warranty work I likely wouldn't be needing a boat anymore. They gave me the whole oh he called in sick today or oh we can get it in in 2 months or oh they've already left for the day. I even called another cabelas and got the same treatment. Went to the interwebs and YouTube but haven't found anything similar. Usually find the opposite where guys are complaining their steering is to tight.

Cable as far as I can tell. I believe the end of the cable comes out the side of the gear into a simple plastic tube. When this first started happening I noticed if I grabbed that tube and Bent it upwards a bit the steering would go ahead and engage and my motor would turn so my best guess would be something is loose in that no feedback gear that my wheel attaches to but I'm not familiar with mechanical stuff like that. I've replaced the whole front end of my truck but put a boat part in front of me and my confidence seems to go the way of my boat anchor lol

Thanks. I finally got in contact with someone at alumacraft and sounds like they contacted the service manager at the cabelas that has been jerking me around. Said its likely they did not connect it to my motor right and that they will fix it immediately. Alumacraft may not be as flashy and cool as the awesome bass boats but man they take care of their customers. I'm with you though I'm thinking something in the cable rack and helm has come loose because it will work good for a while then suddenly no left turn or no turning period till I come completely off the throttle.
