The best thing to do is put out brush of your own each time you go to the lake and after one season you're set for a good while.

Good advise here. Before SI I never searched much for brushpiles. I built my own. Still do. On the lakes I fish most we built approx 10 new piles per year for at least 15 years. Lots of them are still there and produce fish. With 2D sonar you can occasionally find a new spot but it's not easy. Just look in 15' deep water for most of them.
Again, BUILD your own. Enjoy what you find but you can't depend on others to build for you.

Find out what depth of water the fish are in. Spider rig and use as many rods as legal. Put a weight on bottom and hook about one foot up. Drag the weights along bottom until you hook brush. You'll probably catch a couple of crappie about the same time you hook brush. Throw out a marker buoy and line up landmarks on the bank. Then you will be able to come back and fish however you want. Its good to find an edge in depth you are looking for. Before I had sonar this is the way we found brush when practicing for a tournament on a lake we knew nothing about.

My advice is it's kinda hard to find anything running around 40 miles an hour..... Take your time idling around in prime areas, I prefer prime areas I don't see folks always fishn..... Most lakes especially ones with rivers or creeks feeding them will have natural structure & wash in's... You'll catch more, bigger, better fish going where others are not......

exactly like stated above, make a handful and put some out! cheap/easy to build, plus the payoff of your brush producing is satisfying! I did it on Fork before I owned GPS and just positioned then so I could fish them in any wind!

catfish juglines get stuck in them very often..
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

TPWD places "Fish Attractors" in various lakes. I don't see any listed for Lewisville but there may be another lake that you'll eventually fish. Someone else might comment if they have found these to be good fishing spots. Brad Go to this URL: Fish Attractors

1st of all, if your like me, and can't afford $3000 graphs and $450 a day guides, you just do it the old fashion way.
The graph you have, I'm thinking you know what a brush pile looks like on it? Get a marker bouy that goes down fast. Keep it in one hand and the other hand on steering. Follow contours in depths around areas like 15 to 20 plus fow. Look for flats or points and get busy. Good beverage time. I'm not a big crappie fisherman and find alot of piles looking for other fish. If you don't have gps, like me, the line them up with landmarks or something you can remember. I've had some problems remembering, and it might take some time to get back on it.
When all the satellites fall from orbit I will be able to catch some , but since you have a boat you are willing to venture out and get the satisfaction of doing it.

I really appreciate all the help. I set my graph to look at just the bottom portion of the water column. I found three piles in just a few minutes. It seems like every point on the lake has a pile on it. I used bouy markers then stayed close with the trolling motor. I killed them Tuesday pm. I caught close to a hundred fish, mostly dinks but kept plenty for a fish fry. All on jigs. I like the idea of sinking the trees that erosion has layed down. Plenty of them out there. Now if this wind would lay down a little.
