Hey guys once again I find my self in a pickle. I'm looking to add some combos to the arsenal this summer, but I found a problem or maybe not, with the Chronarch MGL. I really want to try this reel but the line capacity scares me. It only holds 90yds of 14#, and I want to put 16# Sunline Sniper(very small diameter line) on. Should I be fine with 80-90 yds of line?
Whose house? Coogs house!!

90 yards is plenty for freshwater bass fishing.

I run backing and then only put about 50 yards of good line on any reel (other than my deep crankbait and C-rig rods). The first 30 yards of your line gets used. The other just fills the spool. Good fluorocarbon like Tatsu is too expensive to just use as spool filler. This practice allows me to change my line out more often and not go broke doing it.

What knot do you use to join line to backing? What do you use for backing?

I use whatever old line I have around for backing. It is just taking up place one spool. Most of mine is 15 lb McCoys.
I like to tie as small a knot as possible. I usually just use a Double Uni and trim the end close. I have never even gotten close to my knot so there is no fear of a fish stripping me down to the knot. Once I have had the main line on for a while and had to cut/retie a few hundred times I might start getting within 10-15 yards of my knot on a long cast. Then I usually just put on new main line.

I do the same thing. Any kind of cheap mono line as backing and then use the double uni knot to tie on my good line I fish with. It has worked out great for me and never had a problem. Makes me able to spool a lot more reels with my good quality line.

I keep mono on as backing line, then put a couple rounds of electrical tape over the mono. then just tie one knot around the tape. If the tag ends stick up, just cut a small piece of tape and cover it. I can get 4 reels spooled with a 200yd Seaguar box.

I keep around 50-60 yards unless it is a cranking set-up. I wont have any backing on cranking set-ups.

yall are crazy, no knot needed. fill backing, wrap with tape. tie on to your new wide spool.

What knot do you use to join line to backing? What do you use for backing? Alberto - very easy to tie. I use Big Game in green for backing. When you start to see the green color you know it's time to add line again. Alberto Knot Video
