I fish a small private lake a lot with a hollow body frog. a lot of times bass will come up and nose bump it? I assume to kill it? ive paused for few seconds, cast back out. and they will do the same thing. then nothing. is there something I can change? my hook up ratio on a frog is like 1/10, lol. I use spro frogs with trimmed skirts and even bent the hooks out a little.
Cast it, reel it, jerk it.

Shouldn't have to bend hooks on a frog imo. They either eat it or they don't. Could be user error. Regardless, if they aren't eating it, maybe try a fluke after they nose it. You can also try the spro jr for a smaller profile

I use spro frogs with trimmed skirts and even bent the hooks out a little. Working it like a popper gets it done for me. Never bend my hooks and my hookup ration is easily 90% also cut the skirts short. Ive caught em with frogs with no skirts that makes em have to eat the body

Here is a technique that will work great right now with all the wind that has been blowing. It is called Corking. - Use a big bobber so the wind will blow it along. - Tie on a weightless small 4" swim bait. - Just the cheap ones with rings and no hook slit will work great. - Skin hook the wide gap hook just under the rings. - Bait should be about 2' under the bobber. - Cast it out and position yourself so the wind can take it down the shore line. - Throwing it out past the grass line and letting the wind slowly blow it back toward you will also work. - If the shoreline is free of grass just let the wind push it along until it touches bottom and stops. - Cast it out again and repeat.

I taught my wife how to bass fish like this, very good method for teaching kids and beginners
Cast it, reel it, jerk it.

I wouldn't recommend bending out the hooks. Also you just have to make sure the fish fully takes the frog before you set the hook. And lastly, if they miss a frog but still blow up on it, if you quickly throw a wacky rig or weightless T-rig senko, you will almost 8/10 times catch the fish that just missed your frog.

At my deer lease lake if they are not smashing the frog, you can kill them on a pop-r or a tiny torpedo in clear.

Try speeding it up. Sometimes they get to good a look at it and are not sure about eating eat. A lot of people think if they are in a negative mood to slow down, but you'd be surprised how many times you speed it up they will smash it. If that doesn't work as mentioned above if you have a second rod follow that nudge rigged with a senko weightless texas or wacky rigged.

Could it be that its not bass doing the nudging? A weightless plastic should tell the story pretty quick.
