I use the Palamor on most applications. I have s few I use the Uni Knot which is similar to the improved cinch knot. My partner uses the San Diego Jam knot. Test have shown the Palamor & San Diego Jam are the strongest two knots. SDJ is a little difficult to tie. There's no need to get cute with knots. The palomar always works. Improved clinch / San Diego Jam if the lure is too cumbersome to tie the palomar.

Trillene knot simple and easy to tie I've never had any problems.

Well if you are tying on a 10 inch swim bait the loop to go around the bait would have to be huge, therefore in that case I tie the double Pitzen instead.

All great knots! well said all floro make certain it is very wet before you pull tight. If fishing giant swimbaits or big plastics in heavy cover I add double improved clinch take a look at its holding strength compared to all others. It is a bit bulky fine on very light line and very handy. And covered with the head of the plastic they never see it.

Double uni... not the uni-to-uni that ppl mess up and call a double uni. This is a uni tied with doubled like end up with 3 tags.

Gmans knot is interesting, more weedless might play with it

I had given up on Flouro at first cause of breaks. Found that video with Shaw and almost all my stuff is flouro these days. With the right knot that stuff is extremely strong. The first tournament I started to use that knot I STRAIGHTED out a 5/0 Gammy super line hook with 20lb seagar invisx. I've been a big believer for that knot since with flouro.

whatever knot you tie - if you are unsure of the knot quality, give it a quick shock load to test it. If its gonna break on a hookset it will do so with surprisingly little force. grab line in one hand, lure in the other being very careful with the hook obviously, put a little slack in the line and give it a quick, firm yank so the shock will load the knot. if it breaks then you saved yourself some heartbreak on a hookset. takes 2 seconds for a little peace of mind. you don't have to go crazy with it, just a couple inches of slack and a couple of quick, easy yanks.

edit - i only do this with single-hook baits where i can grab the hook and know i am not going to impale myself.

That's the doubled pitzen.
Very good knot.
Jimmy Houston calls it The Jimmy Houston Knot
Gary Klein also uses it.

Never heard of the Pitzen knot until I saw your post. I googled, and turns out it's the knot Dad taught me years ago that I use 90% (when I don't tie a Palomar). All these years of fishing, tying that knot thousands of times, and I never knew the name for it...I don't recall him ever saying the name of it. I think I'll just continue to call it "the knot Dad taught me" if it's all the same to anybody else, though. smile
