Do most prefer the 52" TM shaft over the 45" one??

having had the 45 and 60 inch Ulterrsa I would say the the 52" Ultrex is an excellent lenght

If you fish in open water that 52 will be a blessing in the chop...

52 is perfect. 45 is just right MOST of the time, but the one time you need extra length and do any real open water fishing, you need 52. I have a 60 ulterra and it's just a little much. But, would way rather have too much than too little. You can always adjust for more out of the water, but you can't magically make the shaft longer.

I ordered the 45 because it is what I am used to. I am hard enough on my rods without another 7 inches in my way. As a rule, if its to rough for the 45 to stay in the water, then its probably too windy to be out there anyway. There are some instances when I wished I had the 52, but they don't outweigh the downfall of 7 more inches to avoid when flipping or casting.

Just called Jasper Outboard. They told me they only had one left and it was a 45". Back to the drawing board... Cant believe its this freakin hard to get one of those things.

I bought one of the 45" Ultrex's Wednesday. My Fortrex was a 45" and seemed to work fine the majority of the time and like posted above I didn't want another 7" in the way.

I had a buddy who sent Keith Combs a message to see which one he was running, he has a 45". I bought a 45 and one day will have time to install it.
