I'm going to start looking soon. Got my fill of creek hybrids this week. Looking to do a little bit more relaxed fishing. Slip corking the rocks from a kayak is easy mode.

What do you think the most effective bait is for that? I would try shad if I had it but wondering if liver or something might be just as effective since it's mostly channels.

Shad or some other kind of cut fish is the best. Small chunks of cut carp, bluegill, drum, chunks of big shad, smaller whole shad, live Minnows, live small bluegill. The best stuff is the stuff you can catch right there at the lake.

If you live in Richardson, White Rock Lake is a good bet for catching shad. Go early in the morning and cast your net right below the lights on the docks. My record in one cast has been 53 shad and a 14 pound blue cat. The blue cat was released to live another day, however the shad got destroyed on the rocks at Hubbard. Fishing the rocks at mother hubbard may be my favorite time of the year

Night Crawlers are my go to bait on the rocks. That or stubbys.
3ft under a cork. cast until I find them. Once i find them, its rare that the bait is in the water for more than 5 seconds.

Sorry for the late response, it's finals week here at school. Because of being at school in Arkansas I haven't had the opportunity to go fishing yet on the rocks, but I usually will start catching them consistently mid May through June

 This was last week. It's still a little early. I'm only catching decent numbers when I can find the shad against the bank. I've been driving around until I see a good bait slick running up against the bank, and I stop and fish that. Lots of smaller fish still. Out of that limit, only 3 males looked like they were ready to spawn. Most of the eggs weren't very developed yet.
