I have a 2003 Suzuki 2-stroke DT150 (150 HP) when I ran the boat at the lake for 1/2 hour or longer and shut off the engine, it will not start unless I wait about 1/2 hour. It will run all day as long as I don't shut the engine off. It will turn over but won't start. It will start if I spray starting fluid into the air in-take but will die after all the starting fluid burns off so it has spark. It always starts in the morning or after 1/2 hour or longer when not in use. I have tried to use an external fuel tank and it doesn't help so it is not a vapor lock issue. It is EFI (no carb). I have googled it and seems like a common problem but only one solution I saw was the high pressure fuel pump. I am not sure if mine has both low and hi pressure fuel pump. Please help if you can give me some idea on troubleshooting.

Thanks,

Check the neutral switch by the shift linkage. A buddy had one doing the same thing and if I remember correctly the neutral switch kills the injector pulse not the spark. If it is a little out of adjustment when it warms up and everything moves just a little it will not start. This was the first and only engine I have ever seen this on. It drove us crazy for a while but he finally found someone who told him this and it has started every time since with no issues.

Thanks 184Champion. Is the Neutral Switch reside inside the motor cover? My boat engine will not turn over if it is not in "Neutral" so does this still applies?

The one I was messing with was under the cowling where the shift linkage attaches.
