I'm a retired guide from Sam Rayburn and I thought I would tell you this from experience. If the fish comes up and shakes , you have a lot higher percentage of losing the fish due to the weight on the hook because it adds momentum to the hook helping it come out .Through the years I saw it over and over . Good luck but a begged weight is the safer way to go
