My motor trims itself up and I have to unhook main power to make it stop. I replaced both relays last month and I thought it was fixed but today it is doing the same thing again. I can let it sit for an hour and it will work for a little while then it just goes up again. I need some ideals. I think it might be a short some where on one of the trim buttons.

Bow switch is the normal culprit (getting wet) but it can be the control trim switch. Disconnect the 12v power source from the bow switch to test. Same for the control switch.

Could be in shifter handle. Wires get pinched & worn inside. DEFINATELY dont want trim motor to burn up while trailering. Hopefully its just a switch & not wire short.

When this happened to me it was the switch at the bow. It had water in it. It dam near burned up the boat. The motor came up and fried all the wires from getting too hot. I had to remove the motor to replace the tilt motor. So I would replace the switches before it is too late.

Happened to me...it was the switch on the motor. Replaced it and hasn't happened since
