I am truly sorry to hear this....contact the Judge and see if they offer deferred adjudication....basically its probation, time frame set by judge. As long as you don't get another citation within that time frame, ticket goes away. After you pay the fine plus $50 - $75.

I go thru that way all the time and am aware of the 'one-horse', 'one-cop' towns. I make sure that I adhere to all their rules and signs, as the tickets are a very important $$$ generation resource for them. And no, you won't get a warning.

thats how most people fail thier driving test. the white line is usually too far back to see thru the intersection. so naturally you pull up far enough to be able to see, then stop.... . the law says stop at the white line, then pull forward to see.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

I wonder if there is a regulation that governs how far the white line is supposed to be from the stop sign. if its too far back, maybe you could fight the ticket.

Small town, trying to meet a quota of some sort and make money for the town. Had that happen several years ago in Central Texas, after giving a SKYWARN spotter talk in Cameron (Milam Co).
As I was driving north through Lott and Falls Co, I hit my cruise reset to 70 mph once I was out of the city limits. I see flashing lights way back behind me (thinking it was an emergency vehicle or ambulance).
I'm in a federal government van (that's not mine) and tired as heck and I pull over (thinking to let this emergency vehicle by). Instead, one of Lott's (or Falls County's) finest blasts up behind me with his spotlight on like I had been going 100 mph.
Long story short, had to pay $150 (because I took the online defensive driving BS course) and get a butt-chewing from my boss and warning, when I did nothing.
The officer was a total jerk too and didn't seem to care who I worked for, where I was coming from, and gave me a hard time because the vehicle wasn't mine (was wearing a national weather service shirt).
I support the blue too, but c'mon now.

We go through Point and Lone Oak just about every other weekend. After a ticket in each municipality a couple of years ago, we are very careful. Typically under speed limit. That stop sign violation is just too much though, maybe after all the speeding tickets folks have wisened up and they need a new revenue stream.

When incorporated cities with less than 15 named streets hire a police force, you know it's for only one reason; to stop all the armed robberies and riots.

As an FYI, the stop sign has to line up with the stop bar(stripe). If they don't, I'm pretty sure they can't ticket you unless you are in front of both. Often times they are installed wrong and don't line up. The contradiction of where to stop is a point of contention to look into if you want to fight it. I think you could call that entrapment. When we have them installed, its a big deal with some cities. If the town is full of Jack Wagons, might not help, but just a thought. You would be surprised how many are wrong.

I got the same ticket there for the exact same stop. He was a good 75 yards sitting behind a building and he wrote me a ticket. Also it was 1:30 a.m. He must be superman if he could see that in the dark

Man, that's just pitiful. Wouldn't it be interesting to know just how much money that one stop sign has made for the town? A guy with a power trip that gets paid to sit and watch a stop sign to write tickets.

Search Public Record on Court Dockets Its a little harder process now due to identity theft, but you can still find out how many Citations are processed thru the Court every year as well as the penalties.
