I don't mind spending the cash to do it.....

But parents seem to forget that it's supposed to be fun. And we play sports and race to have fun.

If you ever want to see the biggest spoiled brats on the planet.....join Karting. Parents spend crazy money on kids that hate it or have 0 talent.

Karting? Is that a joke? Kids driving go carts competitively?

That is insane by itself.

Hell, we had a batting cage in a hanger and dad worked air traffic so he was shift work and could work us almost daily morning or night. My old man pushed us hard and that was a great time in my life. We played in a couple of state titles and a national in AZ but only won state over in Euless at the star complex I think was. Have to find the ring. Would not trade that time for anything and loved that part of my life.

I think the issue is more that some "coaches" blow smoke up the parents' butt telling them oh yeah, I'll train your kid and he'll for sure start for UT in 2020! Now just sign right here.

There is no doubt. We went to Peoria to play for a national. Me, my catcher and another pitcher from prosper on the team got put in the home run derby and radar gun completion. We were freshman in high school so the derby did not matter as we all sucked but our catcher did make it close on one shot. My catcher was ripping 87ish on the gun (frigging hoss and best one I threw too ever), I hit 81 and our next man up got 78ish. Got to highschool and politics took over and I said bye. Just now can I watch a game every now and then.

I raced Karts when I was in grade school then went to quarter midgets up to open wheel modifieds to sprint cars. Only thing insane about it was living in a motel room or in the toter home 200 nights a year, you get burnt out after doing that for 12 years.

We're not that deep. We race at our track that's 4 miles from my house and that's it. So far. Once we conquer that ,maybe we'll look at other tracks.
