Hit the river between Lake GT and IH-35 around 10:00 this morning. I threw out my drift sock and let the wind push me upstream while I worked the laydowns and weedbeds with 6" watermelon seed worms. Ended up catching 7 bass from about 13" to 18". Got off the water at 1:00, just in time for my daughter's soccer game. Not bad for a three hour trip.

North or South San Gabriel? Must be the South, I don't think there is enough water in the North below the lake.

It is the North. There is a section between IH-35 and the dam that has a small dam creating a river-lake about 5-6' deep and maybe a 1/4 mi. long.

Are you talking about blue-hole park, or is it further upstream the north branch - if so, how do you get there?

Nice sounding fish btw, thanks for sharing.

Hey Twex, I see you're from GT also, so directions will be easy. From Williams Dr., go south on Rivery then turn right on Country Club Rd.(the very next light) and just follow it until you cross the bridge over the river. You'll see the dam on your right. As soon as you cross bridge, there is a little park on the right, park there and it's about a 50 yd. tote to the water. I usually launch off the dam but the city has recently put up a silt fence that's a bit in the way so I've been launching a little upstream from there. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Oh nice, I've never driven down CC road beyond the last street with housing on it - and that was when I moved to GT about 5 years ago looking at rental properties, and haven't been down it since (Now live in the estate on the left past the HEB on Williams). I'll definitely have to give that streatch a try. If you ever see a little red hatchback with a yellow mantaray 12 on top, that's me. smile
Also, checkout www.austinkayakfishing.com - there's a bunch of us in the Austin area that get together and kayak fish the area lakes on a regular basis.
