If anyone has actually experience using an Xi5 I would like your
review of it's performance.
Please do not get on here and tell me about any other trolling motor
or how Minn Kota is better. I am trying to get real world information.

I have one on my boat at my lake house which is trolling motor only.

The foot pedal is completely worthless and the spot lock is very very good but not perfect.

The motor deploys great and is very quiet. Also good battery life.

Being able to control the boat via remote and not having to run the motor up front has lead to many pleasurable nights with females.

I had one in my 15 ZX250 I liked it a lot . The problem I had is the overhang on the Xi5 base would hit my bow roller on the trailer loading and unloading to the point that it was breaking the over hang. No matter how shallow or deep I tried to load and unload the boat. So I ended up taking it off.

I had one on my boat for a little over 2 years. When the warranty went out I vowed I would not fix it again. When it works it is awesome but when it dies not, well........ Granted i fish alot and I am hard on my equipment. I replaced transmission twice, 3 mother boards, 1gps board and at one time they replaced the entire TM minus mount and transmission. It broke again a couple of weeks ago and I bought a different TM. So far the Ultrex seems to be awesome but I have not had a chance to really put it thru the passes yet.

I have not had any problems with mine.Had about one year.Love it.Spot lock is awesome in windy conditions. I have been able to hold on spots and fish with good results. The only downfall is trying to mount a transducer for humminbird graphs.DI and SI. I came up with a nice mount and you can google it and pics will show up. Overall very happy with it.

Best TM ever. You can get a quick release if it hangs over to pull it back while trailering. Anchor is infinitely better than minn kota spot lock. I've had 2 on 2 different boats. If you fish structure at all it's hard to beat.

I've had one 3 years.
Deployment and stow isn't the best nor easiest.
As mentioned above, it does hang over the nose of your boat, and you've gotta be careful or you'll hit it loading (mainly on steep ramps). The iPilot has the same issue.
Battery life is good.
Spot lock is good.
I have had no problems operating the foot pedal.
I did have an issue with water getting into the shaft and ended up running into the head when it was racked. Needless to say, water and electronics do not mix.
The overall durability of the xi5 isn't real high. The mount is flimsy and doesn't hold up in rough water.

I would've always owned one simply because of the spot lock option, but now that the Iltrex is out I'll probably never own another xi5. It'll be an Ultrex for me simply because they look like they will hold up much better.

I've got the saltwater version. Had bad vibration that took a new lower unit and later had to replace the gps. Both under warranty. Great when it's working.

I have had mine for a year now. It is installed on an i20. I have had no problem with it. It has helped me slow down when fishing down a bank. Instead of using the foot control I use the remote I use the anchor feature to start, when I want to move up I hit the jog feature two or three times to move up 10 to 15 feet at a time to move me down the bank. I have anchored for most of the day ov several events with no battery problems.

I have had one for a year. It's probably the BEST investment i have made on my boat yet. It allows for much more fishing time, as opposed to fighting the TM when it's windy, the anchor is MUCH better than the spot lock on a Ulterra. The Ulterra will move 15 ft in any direction and then speed up and over shoot the spot, I've seen my parter with the Ulterra almost be thrown from the boat when it kicks in to get back on the spot. Only thing I've added to mine is a handle to help stow the TM back before making a move. I've sat in the drivers seat many times and ran the TM while looking at the graph... get one!you won't be disappointed!
