Going to Caddo Lake SP for the first time ever this weekend. Have a kayak.
Have heard the redear fishing can be really good, interested in the Crappies too, and would love to catch a Chain Pickerell.

Really I just wanna know where to start.

Jig around trees for crappie?
Jig and bobber for bream?
any tips from people that have fished out there before.

Should be a little early for the hot bream fishing although I don't know how good it will be this year with the salvinia. The islands are clogging up now. Still should be able to catch around trees. Worms or crickets. Put on some kind of frog and the pike will bite. Find lay down trees in river for crappie. Jigs or minnows.

Go up north to the tpwd small craft put in. Much prettier than putting in at the state park. The state park just kicks you out into the big cypress bayou. It's pretty but you will enjoy the northern area. Follow hwy 43 north and go right on 805. It will take you down to a wildlife management area put in for Carter lake that's really beautiful. Great fishing up there too. I've caught a number of pike in there. Get you a lake map if you e never been. You can get lost if you get off the marked paths.

There is a store and marina just across the road from crips camp that makes a good put in as well for the bayou and gives good access for the management areas.

Your supposed to have the annual hunting permit or limited use permit to access some of the areas off the main bayou.
