So I'm fishing a pond today and working a fluke like I always do-anywhere from just under the surface to maybe 3-4 ft down. And nothing, not a single bite. So just for the heck of it I let it sink to the bottom-8, 10 maybe 12 ft down. And start to work it in like a jig with lift drops. And one fish after another until I break one off and don't have any large gap hooks to fish anymore.

Anybody else do this? They would not come up and take that fluke up in the water column and I know they could see it-the water is clear. But once on the bottom they couldn't leave it alone. smile

flukes work great on the bottom

Crig, deadsticking, shaky head, drop shot, etc

I've pitched them in timber on a flipping jig with success.

Someone, I think Palaniuk, flipped them weightless on Conroe in the bushes.

Ehrler flipped a Yamamoto D Shad at Conroe. He did not add a weight as the bait comes internally weighted.

I'll nose hook smaller baits that are identical to a fluke on a VMC shakey jig.

Hook weighted screw lock hook let it sink to bottom and twitch it back using just the real. Make 1/2 turn let it drop 1/2 turn. Repeat

I'm trying this tomorrow. Thank you!

I love flukes for all the ways they can be fished. I was catching bundles walking it on the surface like a spook last week.
