I can catch bass and catfish all day long, but for the life of me I can't figure these suckers out. FYI I've only been using artificial lures.
If y'all could recommend some lures/jigs in particular and/or jigging methods I'd be very grateful.

I recommend hiring a guide to learn. Its money well spent.

For sure a guide would speed up the learning curve. There are also some good videos on Youtube. Welcome to the forum.
To whom much is given, much is required.

watch youtube , lots of good info there. Read everything on this forum , believe half, Order Ernest Paty's DVD's. Nothing beats time on the water and a bait at the right depth. I am no expert , but most of my crappie are caught between 14 and 20 feet deep. As far as jigs , that is a ford vs chevy debate , but try some PePops hand tied and some Slab bandit plastics in texas toast , blue chartruse and dirty chicken. good luck MO

Also dropping about 4k in electronics and trolling motors is very helpful. Mo

A guide is definitely well worth the money for shortening the learning curve.

Boat or bank is an important factor to know.

Bardwell mostly. But I'm in the Desoto area, so quite a few options. But I don't have a boat, so that limits me a bit

From the bank you really only have a window from November till about now. Most of the fish are transitioning the their deeper summer pattern. The creeks at joe pool are usually good during that time

For the biggest bang for the buck get a float tube & some waders. Concentrate on bridges. Places like Buck Creek ramp offer some good fishing close by. Two bridges. Little Elm ramp at Lewisville works. Also most of the lakes in the area have areas or bridges convenient for tubing. It's great in the summer, cool and shady on the bridges. Beats the bank.

It is a bit late and they are probably done right now. That creek is pretty good in January- march
