My daughter is in pre-K right now and she can read, write and do math. I agree that it's expensive but worth it. Can she weld? Very important.

Daycare is expensive for a low income family.
If a member of the family wants to get a job at a fast food thing. He will be working just to pay daycare. so then they better stay at home doing nothing.

we work our lifestyle around mamma being able to stay home with our son. It's the only way I sleep well at night.

I get a kick out of people talking about "quality education" in pre-K/kindergarten. Guys get realistic here. Pre-K is more about socialization and babysitting than it is about education. Sure they will also learn their letters and numbers, but who really cares? By the time they get done with kindergarten, and especially by the 2nd or 3rd grade, you cannot tell any difference in a child that had a great pre-K and a child that didn't.
We are not talking about a college prep school where the education quality can prompt future success in an Ivy League school. We are talking about the kid that can learn lefty and righty a few months earlier than their friends.
And remember this... whether you are paying $2000 a month or getting it free from the state, your pre-K kid is spending more time playing paddy-cake and eating goldfish than he is learning his addition tables. True, but I'll take the quality of person watching my child at a facility that charges $1,000 per month any day over one that charges $300 per month. Not to mention the quality of meals and snacks they are feeding my child.

Most Church run programs are not allowed by state law from providing food to the children from lunch or snacks. They can only provide water. Now ours for 5 days a week for full days runs over $600. Big difference in fees in number of days and how long they are there.

Have her go to her church, and ask about their PreK, if she don't go to church, then tell here to go find one and start going. Early education is too priceless to put a dollar amount on it. The kid will be much more disciplined, and way ahead of everyone else in life.

This was one of the main things I thought about when picking schools.

I don't get help from the Gov and I send my kids to school sick. I wouldn't send them if they had the Flu, but that is one of the only few illnesses they would get to stay home for. I'm an a hole when it comes to perfect attendance and the sniffles won't get you a day off.

I have complete faith in the people who own and operate the daycare my boy goes to. As far as the quality of food etc. he eats a lot of fresh fruits and veggies. People paying a thousand a month are getting ripped off, I hope it makes them feel good. That is the only reason people pay it is because they are jerking at your heart strings.
