It was definitely an interesting but fun experience. Unfortunately I didn't catch anything big, but the little guys were hitting weightless flukes like freight trains!

Here's a video for those interested:

I'm definitely gonna buy one of my own. I'm looking at the pescador or heritage angler right now. Any other suggestions?

Typically there's no water in a kayak. something's going on with the scuppers there or something.

I roll scupper free. Seems like I'm taking waves over the bow flooding the cockpit every other time I go fishing anymore.

But a pretty cool video and I'm glad you're enjoying kayak fishing it's awesome!

PS punch that hydrilla.

Got a 10 ft pescador Thursday. Had it out today on a small 5 acre pond today. I only plan on pond fishing this as I have a bassboat for big lakes so your needs may vary.

Tracked well and floated as expected, I am 200 lbs. My only experience is in river kayaks.. perception dancer, and Corsica so it seemed real stable to me. Not as fast, but that's expected....around 3-4 min for the 150 yards....into the wind. Turns ok...also expected. Seat was comfortable, but I did get out once to stretch.

Allowed me to target areas I had never fished. Caught 4 black bass in an hour and half on Texas rigged lizard, and one that snapped the line..felt real big but never saw it, went under the yak and broke off. I am hooked...loved it. Peaceful, and fun.

Be careful, I've been kayak fishing for about a year now and my big boat has been gathering dust. In fact I put it up for sale a week ago.

Just started kayak fishing and kayaking last month. I'm a true believer in it now.

Well, luckily for me I don't have a big boat yet haha (unless a jon boat counts).

It was very peaceful. I felt closer to the water than ever...well I guess that makes sense since so much was inside the yak haha!

Yeah I agree you definitely shouldn't have water in the yak lol. I bet that sucked. The scupper should drain the water out. Cool that you had a yak you could stand in first time out, not all yaks are stable enough to stand in. I had a 10 pescador and no way I could stand in it. I have good balance and I'm only 5'7" and 150lbs. I bought a pelican catch 120 in February and I can stand in it easy as the hull was designed for it, but its a beast to paddle compared to my pescador. I still have both yaks and they both have their place wherr they shine for sure but I prefer the seat and ability to stand up so I take the pelican even though it is heavier.

The water actually wasn't too bad. Kept me nice and cool haha. I also agree that standing up is a must for me. I cant get the leverage to set the hook properly sitting in that one. I think I'm gonna have to splurge on a 12 footer for that stability.

Yep, problem with fishing from a boat is you spend more time running all over the lake than actually fishing.

Just one more cast!
