Not having a boat limits me to fishing from barges, piers, docks, and what-not. After hauling around my gear (and my wife's gear when she comes along) I got plumb tired of wearing myself out with that stuff and not enjoying my fishing time! We were fishing the barge at Lynn Creek Marina (on Joe Pool) and saw a couple with just some handy shopping carts that one see's in the stores from time to time. I thought to myself, 'now right there is a dang good setup to have!' So we set out to find us some of those shopping carts and finally nabbed us a couple. Now in and of itself these are right handy from the get-go! Well those that know me know I just don't settle for the 'ordinary'! So I set out to accessorize it up just a tad so that I do not have to lug around so much stuff. I added 4-inch pieces of PVC pipe to both carts (2" diameter on my wife's cart cause she likes fishing with those pistol-grip rods; 1.75" diameter on mine for my long-handle rods). I drilled 4 holes (2 on top; 2 on bottom) on the PVC pieces and ran zip strips through to secure the piece to the cart. I then gave the cart and the PVC pieces a fresh coat of spray paint (glossy black on hers; matted black on mine). I also added velcro one-wrap ties on the top rail in front to secure the rod to the cart so that it doesn't flail all around during transport. (go to your favorite store and look for the package that has 25 ties to the pack; I got mine at Home Depot while I was getting the PVC; $9 for the pack) Then I loaded both up with our usual gear and good gosh almighty do i love hitting the barges, piers, and docks now! No more lugging all that stuff by hand! Add on some D-rings and store items like rulers, fish nets, floating catch baskets, etc on the outside of the cart for easy access. Next round of accessories will include a couple of rod holders mounted to the cart with swivel heads..... who knows where I'll go next with it?! (lights?.. radio??.... LOL) Looking forward to seeing some of your DIY fishing carts and how you accessorized up!! Go catch ya some!

Nice, I need something like this for fishing the river. I might need pneumatic tires on the back.

I use a wagon that I got from Northern Tool. rigged the handle so it will attatch to the rear of my scooter. I use a small motorcycle for a 12 volt light and a small radio. That sucker has gone to Galveston, Corpus and Freeport. Michael and I take it to the park loaded down with stuff for a picnic and quiet time. We haul snacks to his soccer games on the week-end.

I used wheel chair but only once. Had room for the tackle box, ice chest, and fishing gear. I pushed the chair to the bank of the Marshall community lake. Had a place to sit while I was fishing.
The only problem I had was being embarrassed by the people who wanted to he!p me fish and the dirty looks I got when I got up and walked around. Other than that the wheel chair made a handy cart.
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.... W.C.Fields
I know a little about a lot of things but not a whole lot about anything....CGD
