I'm kind of new to this whole finding fish on lakes thing. One of the lakes I fish has creeks that run for miles from the main lake. Some creeks are less than 10 feet deep or less for the last mile or so. Do you fish the very back of the creeks? Or is there a certain point where you stop? Thanks.

Depends on the creek. I'll fish back as far back as the boat will float as long as I'm still getting bit. You can get some pretty small creeks that will have some deep holes that can really hold some good fish.

I'll go all the way to the back, had a creek on Livingston that the further back you went the clearer it got, turned out is was spring fed. The hotter it got the more bass stacked in there. It got so narrow in some places two boats couldn't fit side by side, so not many people would fish it. Another near by creek would be loaded with white bass towards the back during the spawn. On dirty lakes like Livingston the back of the creeks are the first to clear up after a big rain, definitely worth a look.
Sometimes I took a chainsaw with me and cut my way to the back, more times than not it payed off.

First third so far this year. Second third hasn't been as productive yet where I fish. Last third has been a turd.

You are blessed to have those creeks that runs for miles to get away from the boat traffic. This is where I always loved to go; as far away as I could get. From the 10 ft. water to the back is where they should be right now. Target all the larger lay down off the banks that are hanging off in the water. These are any trees that the wind may have blown over. Also some of these creeks have Beaver that will help provide the cover.

If the shad are spawning back in the creek then I like to throw a small spinner bait with down sized blades to closer match the size of the bait fish. If things are pretty quite and no visible shad then I will throw a Trig. lizard and a 3/8 oz. jig on those lay down. I have two color lizards that I throw both in just a 5" size.
- Start with a Chomper's Pumpkin Seed lizard. Color the back Green with a permanent marker. Let them lay out and dry over night. Then Dose the package with your favorite scent to kill any odor especially the human odor.
- The other lizard is Black Blue Flake with a Blue Tail.

The jig is Crayfish colors with a very few strands of Chart. and orange. Arm it with a Pumpkin Seed Twin Tail Grub by Mr. Twister.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

Every lake is different, every day can be different.

Right now I'm catching most fish in the 4 to 8 ft. deep areas of the creek so that's as far back as I go.

Just go try one or two all the way to the back. If it works go try some more, if it doesn't go try something else

Me too, in 40 plus years of bass fishing, I pulled out many out of grass or vegetation on the edges of end of creeks. That keeps me going back!

Until you hear banjo music.

In all seriousness, every lake is different, and different day by day too. During cold or hot weather, you'll most likely do better towards the mouth of the creek, where deeper water is. But during the cool weather like Fall or Spring, you can go pretty far back.

Makes sense. So this is the perfect time of year to be in the backs.
