After watching all the classic footage over the weekend the word "Giant" is now officially banned from my boat. I think we've all come to expect Ike to say every fish he hooks is a giant, but in the classic it seemed like the whole field was doing it. Of the 400 times I heard someone say giant in the 3 episodes of coverage only 1 fish was actually a giant, Ikes toad on the final day. Sitting in traffic this morning on the way to the office I was thinking, perhaps my definition of a giant is different from the majority... so what tell me what size fish to you equals a giant? big fish? good fish? I know its the classic and these guys are fired up, do you think they say giant all the time just hoping when the fish surfaces it really is one? Basically wishful thinking?

IMHO,
Giant = Double Digit or very close to it
Big Fish = 6 lbs +
Good fish = 3 to 5 lbs

For all you YouTubers, if it's not 9+ in Texas, it's not a giant.

6 plus is a big fish in my boat! Just about any string stretcher 2lbs and up is enough to get me excited and having a good time!

I think it's the professional anglers themselves. Most aren't from Texas and their home waters a 5 pound bass probably is a giant

Loved it when IKE would yell big one, giant. And then have to measure it to make sure it was 16 inches.

I don't even allow pictures in my boat unless it's 10#s.

Dink = anything less than 1.5 pounds...
Decent keeper = 1.5 - 3.0 pounds...
Good/Solid fish = 3.0 - 6.0 pounds...
Big fish = 6.0 - 9.0 pounds...
Giant = 9.0 plus...

I fun fish though 99% of the time... so don't have much skin in the game other than talking trash with whoever is in the back seat or running the front deck.

It's relative to the lake I'm fishing. Watching MLF, they were on a lake where a 2 lber was considered a "giant" when all the other fish were 1 lb or less, lol. But in general, I don't holler giant unless it's 8+.

Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to holler "giant" in a couple of years when it comes to bass, lol.

Well I'm sure we have all been fooled by the 2lber that was over a limb or in the grass. But I also noticed that, watched the MLF this weekend and noticed that too.

Also very commonly heard "Not as big as I thought."

IKE gets to say what he wants it's IKE and he continues grow the sport like no other

I don't have a concrete definition, but I would say 7 pounds or bigger in a tournament might qualify as a giant.
