When you store jigs after using them do you keep your trailers on, or throw them out? Just curious

Not going to do it anymore, at least not when I put them back in a box. Had to de-rust or throw out an entire 3700 full of jigs because of a couple of high-salt content trailers!

I use Living Rubber Skirting on all my jigs. The trailers come off. Let the jig dry then baby power the skirt and put in the Zip Browning Binder. Everything is as air tight and away from other plastics that causes skirts to melt. My skirts are hand ties; but those that use the rubber skirt rings will find them laying in the bottom of the box if the trailer is left on the jig. Just the fumes from plastic trailer will melt and break down rubber.

Great advice, that salt is a jig killer.

Not only do I take them off my jigs I also take soft plastics off all the rigs that I had set up, (TX.rig, drop shot, C-rig, shaky head, swing head, etc,). The hooks rust too quickly if you leave the soft plastics on. On the TX.rig, C-rig I just leave the head of the bait connected and just slide it up the line so it is still "on" but not touching the hook. Then when you are ready to fish just slide it down and re-rig it. On the drop shot, shaky head, and swing head, I take them off. If they are still in good condition I just leave them on deck to be used the next time out.

I take them off, since I use pork trailers.

It's funny, I've been noticing this recently with my jigs too. If I can remember, I take my trailers off.

If it's my last trailer....it will stay on till the hook rusts off.

You guys keep jigs long enough for them to rust? LOL. I build what I need, find the nastiest stuff to throw them in, hang them up, break them off and then repeat.
