Another Pit roaming the area. We saw him yesterday about a mile from our house and today he was wondering across the street. He looks to be about 6 months old, still has his nads, and has a leather Collar on. No ID of any kind on the collar. He's skin and bones, but when I gave him some dry food he didn't seem to want it. I gave him some of moms home made chicken treats and he gobbled them down. I can't handle having another pit after having to put Sadie down. I won't let him starve, but I'm also not bringing him inside the fence. We have my sons 3 while he's on his honeymoon, plus our two. The dog seems very good natured and friendly. Not aggressive at the fence at all.

People are a holes. We have one that get free in our neighborhood. He is old and half blind. Will walk up and lay down and rollover to get his belly rubbed. The owner still has not fixed her fence.

My neighbor of ~ 15 years has had probably 30 dogs since he moved in . 4 Rotties were shot by the Sheriff's office after they attacked another neighbor's livestock . He finally grew out of the Rott / Pit stage when they started having kids (thank God) .

He's had some really good dogs but they're allowed to run loose in hog/coyote territory . They do well to last about 3 years .

Welcome to east Texas. You don't pick dogs, they pick you.

I know but I cannot have another pit. Sadie broke my heart when she mauled my sons dog. I still hurt every day from the ache of missing her and the guilt from putting her down. Just can't do it.

I don't blame you. Sometimes you have to make hard decisions out there in the country. You cant save them all.

Shoot all loose and dropped off pits. Worthless dogs.

My Schnauzers live the life of Riley. I'm not to fond of Pit Bulls but have seen some that seemed to be very well dispositioned. But they are very unpredictable and become very aggressive. Some animal control officers will put down any Pit that they pick up.

I've got a pit. Max is going on 5 years old. Found him at about 5 weeks old. Didn't really want him and had 3 Old Big Guys and 4 cats when he moved in at the Ranch we had. All the old Guys have died and he's still here. Doesn't bark and has never been concerned about other dogs and has never met a stranger. Not a mean bone in his body and has always been an inside dog. Goes with us everywhere in our RV. Headed to the beach next week. Sold ranch and live in town now and he's afraid of the deer that hang around here. I think it's how you raise them or any dog.

Unfortunately with strays you never know how they were raised before you got them, and you can't change some of their natural instincts. Taking a pit to a dog pound is a death sentence.
