found crappie up sallow in coves catching tons of dinks are theses male? were are the big ones? and sould i move are stick with this place? thanks

I would look deeper. Maybe the females are a bit deeper.

Hmmm, interesting. FYI, an 8 inch crappie is sufficiently mature enough to reproduce. What you may have done is enter a cove where small crappie were spawning and probably caught male/females, but that is just a guess based on the amount of information you provided. It could be that other fishermen caught all the legal sized fish in that cove and all that remained were undersized fish.

Interestingly, I received a photograph a few weeks ago....a four inch crappie was spewing eggs...obviously, I viewed the photo with contempt (as I was not there to witness it first hand), if true, would put a whole new spin on never needing to worry about lowering the keep ratio of crappies!

I would probably drop out of the cove, into deeper water and find some structure holding crappie. Hope this information helps.

I bought crappie from a hatchery several years back that wher prob 3" long and ask the man how long it would be before they spawn in my pond and he said now and he wasnt kidding i was over run within 6 months
