Anybody know if the lake is open for boats/fishing. I have a friend in Midland suffered a stroke a few years back and I was wanting to get him out on the water. I'm in Abilene so I notice that lake is a midpoint for us.

After a period of drought, the lake caught water and boating is now allowed. However, it is not currently recommended for fishing due to severe golden alga blooms.

Try Lake Champion 7 miles south of Colorado City. Its currently 815 acres with depths up to 60 feet, water is super clear and most important the fishing has been good. 3 to 4 pounds bass are biting consistently. I've seen pictures recently of 5 and 6 pound fish. The state stocked 61,000 largemouth bass 2 years ago, blue cats before that, crappie and perch recently. Larger fish have been coming down from recently washed out dams up stream on Champion Creek. There are also likely some of the larger fish that survived the 2014 golden algae bloom (Lake has come up 34% since then).
My wife and I have spent the last 7 months fixing the facilities and they are really nice now. We have a small bait shop, camping, canvas tents for rent, courtesy dock for loading and unloading and decent ramps.

Ty, is it rv camping? If so, are there hook ups?
