We talked about this a while back. Conroe has planing speed 20-25mph. Waxahachie has a 35mph limit.
Steez, I think you posted a sign of the Waxahachie speed limit. I could be mistaken though.

A few years ago, I was fishing Fork at night and running about 25mph, We came up on a boat in the boat lane
with lights off. I was able to swerve and miss him. His boat had shutdown and had no way of starting it back up.
We towed him to the ramp. If I had been hauling arse, I probably would not be typing this. He and his passenger
would have been killed. I value my family and my passengers life and try and not screw up on a lake and get someone
hurt or worse.

If my boat dies 100% completely at Fork at night, I'm getting the heck out of the boat lane and signaling with a light or phone.

Ok guys I really don't understand what the big deal is about telling someone that they need to turn their lights on at night so they don't harm anyone or themselves & about the pfd I do need to be better about wearing one but there is no law that says you have to wear one (only if you are younger than 13) & the lakes I fish doesn't have a speed limit but there is a law that says you have to have you lights on at night.

First....congrats on your tournament win .....and nice fish!

Second...part of being a good fisherman...and bettering yourself as a person in general...is being able to take a step back and take into consideration the feedback you may be getting from other people on any given issue.

Other fisherman are simply trying to tell you the approach you took in your video regarding functioning boat/navigation lights was wrong, as was your response in regards to the importance of wearing your pfd. Given the fact that you post youtube videos regularly....how do you think people are going to react when they see you conducting yourself in the manner you did....as well as your answer to wearing your pfd? Also...consider the audience you're addressing in your videos and subsequent internet posts.....what if children/teens are watching your videos? I wouldn't want my son, or any other adult, to think they can approach another fellow fisherman in the manner you did. If you're going to continue to post "informational" youtube videos, you really need to consider how you project yourself to the public and to your audience.

Nobody is questioning the importance of having functioning boat/navigation lights as discussed in your video.....but there was a better way to handle the situation and I think you're failing to realize this despite the amount of heat you're taking on several Internet media outlets.

Again, congrats on your tournament win and thanks for sharing the photo of your bass.....but please consider the feedback people are giving you and consider removing that video from youtube as it has spread like wildfire across several Internet sites for a reason other than the one you were trying to convey to the audience......

no, I didn't, I fast forwarded to see the 5.5 lb. "giant" and then listened to you verbally berate an old man in a tin rig for what seemed like forever then I closed it and went on my way. I'm pretty sure that's what almost everyone did, fast forward through "ChasinBass time" where you talk to the camera in your barkalounger to see if you are gonna fish or just talk.

I understand that I was upset & I could have handled it differently but every night I'm on the water ( & its about 4 days a week) there is someone that doesn't have their lights on so I do get upset & when they are putting my life at risk & everyone else that is on the water & I guess I'm the only one that is going to say anything to them.

So I have 1 question......... why'd you have to film the incident and then share your rant with the world? There is no way you do a several minute monologue then show the video of you going on and on to that older gentleman without a dose of narcissism in their - you know it and we all now it. The part I feel you don't get, is we all see it as another "look at me" moment, you see it as "just another step to YouTube stardom where I told that old fella what for (chest puffed out)". You may have had some good intentions for a PSA in this, but it was just as much "look at me".

I almost always have the camera rolling & I shared it with the world so people know that it is the law that they have their lights on & it now has a lot of people talking about it & yes it did make for a good video.
