Looking for a digital fish scale. I see several on the market, but is one manufacturer better than another?
Using the site for a while...this is really great to share fishing ideas and success with others.

The Rapala Touch Screen scale is a good scale. Weighs up to 15 lbs. Also American Weigh Scales has 3 models, 11 lb, 44 lb, and 110 lbs. I believe the American Weigh Scales can be certified. Both of these brands are very accurate.

berkley 50 lb digital very good for the cabbage
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Look for one that has easy to replace batteries,..and that they are available, and cost effective. Most of the box stores carry a fair to good scale for $20-$30,..

If you are weighing crappie, don't get 110lb scale get the lower poundage closer to what you expect to weigh. The devisions are smaller so you will get the most accurate weight. Good luck on getting a certification on an $11 scale. And keep in mind to get a scale certified may cost you $75 so would you be happy with an $11 scale that cost you $86 after a certification sticker put on it? I have a TorRey 10/20lb. Very accurate and can buy off eBay. I got mine out of Houston and had them certify it before shipping it to me. And it's stainless so wife lets me keep in on the kitchen counter. I think I paid $100 all in to the house. Seemed high at the time but we use it all the time packaging meats for freezer, sausage recipes, and fish runs off 6v rechargeable or 110v plug

I don't need my scale certified. I'm going to add at least a pound to it when I tell everyone how big the fish was anyway!

It would be good to have a certified scale handy. Not for me but to weigh fish for my kiddos. It's just paper to me but the kiddos would find it awesome to have a "record book" fish.

Walmart luggage scale Youll be surprised just how accurate they really are Weighed a 67lb Flathead with one 3 years ago and the lake record still stands after TPW weighed the fish some 5hrs later with 11oz difference to the plus side 67.11oz

My cheap 110 lb scale gets certified every two years without issues. I also fish for big blues in the winter so a scale that only goes to 50 lbs or less isn't much help in the winter. I know at least half a dozen catfish guides that use the same scale and all of them get it certified. Most weights and measures businesses will certify them for $20 or less.

Are you talking about a scale calibration company? All I found local was large truck type scale companies. Wonder if they could do it?

The Rapala Touch-Screen 15 lb Scale is what I use for crappie tournaments. It will store up to 8 weights and is really accurate and comes with a culling system that is numbered to go with recorded weights . For comparing two different fish, I still like to use a balance beam.
