The general consensus was that those that use lead to drop shot were trying to keep you from wasting your money...you did say you were looking for "cheap" tungsten correct? Thanks

I die a little inside each time I lose a tungsten weight. Drop-shotting with tungsten would put me in my grave. Now that's funny. I used to lose quite a bit when I was still using lead tear-drop styled ones. Since I made the switch to a tungsten pencil style, I'm hung up A LOT less. I attribute that to the smaller profile of tungsten combined in the pencil shape. Pretty sure the non-tungsten weight are the exact shape just saying. Yes pencil style is pencil style but they have a smaller profile with the same weight due to tungsten being a denser metal. I also understand some folks don't believe they are necessary but I feel I get a better feel of the bottom and what I'm dragging over and the smaller profile. I just wanted to know where those that do choose to use them get them at a cheaper price. I'm with y'all on the better sensitivity and the smaller profile. Its hard to go back to lead after throwing tungsten anything. Everything feels mushy (for lack of a better word).

How did this turn into an argument? Drives me crazy....simple question of where to get cheap tungsten drop shot weights. Everyone fishes a little different and has a different opinion on what to use or how to use it. The question was where to get them not if I should use them. If I wanted to know if I should use them I would have asked that. It's TFF....it's just what happens.

I prefer to use rocks as my drop shot weights. Not only do fish use rocks as cover, therefore making the presentation more natural, but on a poor mans budget it hurts less when you rare back to cast and zing her (the rock) 564 yards in the air while your worm travels 10 yards. I then switch my presentation to weightless. Extremely efficient.

Anglers Pro Tackle used to have good deals on tungsten. You may want to try them. Not sure.
I see you fish Fork and was trying to save you some bucks on the lead. I drop shot that lake more than most and the skinny pencil weights are the most important factor out there over tungsten/lead. Due to the hang up factor. But yes, either one works.

I stopped using tungsten on my drop shot. Couldn't tell much of a difference.

I fish a drop shot vertically when I see fish on the graph. A rock actually would work just fine. If I were casting it like a T rig then I guess the weight would matter more. For me, it doesn't.
