I know, I know, I post here every once in a while and it's always about carp. Well, I've about had it with these bastards!
I found a local pond by my work over in Plano/Richardson that always has carp in it and I've been over there 15 times now with nothing to show for it. Every time I go I see fish on the banks rooting around and the last few times I've been they're jumping everywhere, but I cannot hook into one. I had one on the bank that I was messing around with and finally got him to take my san juan worm, but I missed the hook set.
The pond is always pretty mucky, so It's super hard to see if a fish is even going for my fly, the one time I did see it was because he was right on the bank and I was basically dangling my fly right in front of his face.
I just feel like I have to be doing something wrong if I've been out this many times with not one fish.
Can someone recommend somewhere to go around the McKinney/Plano/Richardson/Allen area that for sure has carp in an ideal body of water to fish for them, so that I can go and figure out what I'm doing wrong under the right circumstances? This pond by my work is the only place I know for sure that has carp in it that I've seen, but it's so muddy - so do you guys know of anywhere in that area that has carp I could catch? It doesn't have to be super secret, even if it's somewhere that everyone knows about, I don't care. I just want to hook into one fish and figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I have been told that the flats on Ray Roberts are an excellent place. Texasflycaster can take you, I believe that he still guides out there.

Yeah I swung by there last summer and saw a few carp, but couldn't hook into any. I'm going to make another trip out there in the next few weeks. I was just hoping someone could recommend some small ponds or something I could hit up fairly easily.

My understanding is that jumping carp are essentially uncatchable (on fly gear anyways). They're not feeding like trout, it's some other behavior.
All of my ponds are quite murky as well, so I'm in a similar boat. Maybe I'll head up to Ray Bob at some point.

I'd be glad to help. Check out the "Guide Report" thread for a good start. I think that last video I posted is a fair representation. The jumping behavior? That is pure carp joy.
