This is the direction our world is heading. No respect for other people's time, space, property, etc. Same stuff happened to me the other day. Four lane boat ramp blocked by two rigs prepping their boats and taking their time. I always try to just take a deep breath and lead by example. It's hard to do sometimes but it's better than getting all worked up. Respect is a lost art.

Anybody else offer to help people who are struggling? I know some people like to go but get flustered if the ramp is busy and they aren't pros at launching. I ALWAYS offer to help ! Some glady accept and others just look at me like I'm stupid. But I will still continue to offer. I like the original poster always prep in the parking lot. I'm no pro by any means but I consider it being respectful of others.

I'm new with the whole using the boat ramp situation and I do exactly as you do. I consistently have people prepping on the ramp and it wears me out. Common sense and common courtesy are rapidly dwindling unfortunately

On a positive note I saw a guy in a wheelchair launch a boat at LE. 1.) back boat in, 2.) get out of truck, get out the wheelchair, 3.) go down to boat and do final get ready, 4.) put wheelchair back in truck, get in truck, 5.) launch boat, 6.) drive to parking, 7.) same as two 8.) ride wheelchair down to dock, 9.) get on the boat, get wheelchair on boat, he had an adaptor on the front pedestal, 10.) go fishing
The only glitch was that the auto deploy TM got out of range, but the boat gently drifted over to the dock.
It was inspirational. Did all that by himself? That's badass.

I do not know how many times I have had to tell people to turn their headlights off. The only thing I do at ramp is take my transom saver off. It takes less than a minute.

That is awesome . Amazing how some people make it look so easy and some people make it difficult.

Saw a mad wife or girlfriend backing. The whole time her man was yelling this and that left right, come on stop etc. She put the truck in park, got out and started walking up the ramp with him in the boat about 3/4 way in the water. She had had enough. Dude was embarrassed. He finally got out of the boat and pulled the truck up and started looking for her I guess.

I had an experience from a different angle...I went fishing early and my wife was going to meet me later...when I went to pick her up at the ramp, a man and woman wer fishing on both docks on either side of the ramp...they had big red and white bobbers floating where I couldn't pull up to the outside of either dock...at the same time an elderly gentleman had launched his boat and wAs forced to leave it in the between the docks... While he parked his truck his boat washed up on the ramp... He was in a nine line bind trying to get the boat back in enough water to pull away...that was the scene when I pulled up to get my wife...I was in disbelief...I couldn't even pull up to the dock...I was sitting out about 30yds from the docks trying to figure out what to do...and those people were just sitting there oblivious to what was happening...I finally just pulled in really slow and told the fellow "sir you have every right in the world to fish there, but you are sure making it really hard for the boaters right now."....I helped the elderly gentleman get his boat straightened out in the water and on his way .. then helped my wife in the boat and pulled out real easy and went fishing...Maby they learned something maby not...all I know is that was a real test for me...because there was a lot more I could have said and done.
The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

Saw almost the same thing on Lake Arlington....wife having trouble backing ,husband went on a cussing spree . Pulled the boat up to ramp, jumped out grabbed the door told his wife to get the F#$% out he gunned the engine forward backed into the water jumped out and cussed her some more. The wife started laughing making him even madder. All she could do was point at the boat. Husband turned around just in time to see the water going into the cab, with about ten people laughing so hard we couldn't stop. Wrecker time!!!!
I would agree with you , but then we would both be WRONG !!!!!

As a truck driver with a million and a half miles it kinda kills me to watch a lot of these guys back in... but I understand not everyone has the skill. HOWEVER, you can certainly practice. Practice at home, a Walmart parking lot, an abandoned lot... anywhere.
The thing I am having to constantly battle at my local ramp (Colorado bend) is bank fishermen. These guys fish on the ramp and beside the ramp and EVERY time I have to ask them to please move. The reaction is anything from corteous to disdain. I had to explain to one group that this cement slab angled into the water was the only place I could back my boat in. He said, where the hell do you want me to go? I was here before you, why should I move?!
Never had that kind of trouble in east Texas--

Yes sir, I do turn off the headlights and pick up my trash. It's called respect for other people. One of the early lessons I learned from Dad. If only others learned that.

Try Pat Mayse with only single lane ramps and virtually no parking, prep area. Tournament days usually run pretty smooth, but usually a couple of yahoos that have to disrupt the flow.

Pat Mayse at noon on weekends a whole different situation, no common sense, courtesy, or any regard for others occurs pretty regularly. A lot of people camp overlooking the ramp for the entertainment.

It all boils down to common sense and common courtesy is NOT common anymore .
If it was easy, everyone would do it
