So a friend of mine is going on a 4-day cruise next week. Sailing out of Galveston, going to dock somewhere in Mexico, then come back. She's gone on dozens of them.
I've asked her if there's cruises that let you fish off the back, or one that has fishing guides where ever it docks (ready to take you).
Her and her husband say you need to look around or find a travel agent that'll do find it for you. In other words, they don't know.
I'm pretty certain some of yall know.
Maybe next year, if the Oil/Gas industry picks up in time, I can book a cruise for me and my boy. We've never been on a cruise before.

We went on river cruise from Paris to Normandy last October all of the cabins face the water and have a full size sliding glass door ,I didn't bring any tackle but you could easily fish from your bed. btw the boat had 3 levels max cabins were approx 100,when I say 1st class dining you could order gourmet or p&b sandwich and with dinner or lunch you literary had to put your hand over your glass if you didn't want more wine or beer, and with the Captain at the helm, you weren't driving and only had to negotiate your way back to your cabin. http://www.avalonwaterways.com/River-Cruise-Ships/Suite-Ships/http://www.avalonwaterways.com/Experience-Avalon/Inspired-Dining/

Why ask? Just pack a stout rod with a reel that can hold a lot of line. Cast a big diving plug off the back of the ship and strap it to the side railing. Drink heavily and check it every so often. I'm sure eventually they will tell you if it's ok or not.

There are salmon fishing trips on the cruises in Alaska. All are excursions off the ship and can get pricy.
We have been on a number of cruises and these are the only fishing trips I have seen.

You can fish off the back with a Extreme Performance DD 22 in a Chili Bowl color and tell the captain to stay close to shore. Blue marlin, sailfish and tarpon would be the species I'd be targeting

My wife and my first cruise I asked the entertainment director if I could fish off the back of this big ole boat. No. Who's your boss? They said no. Who's your boss about 6 times. Every time was no. Last guy was just under the captain. I saw a big platform on the stern when we loaded, you have harnesses to work on the ship, clip a cable onto me with a harness and send someone down with a crown and seven every hour or so to check on me. We'll all be good. Sir you cannot bring fish aboard the ship unless it has been frozen for a minimum of 21 days. Ok cpr. Why would you do that? Because I know there are big fish down there and I want a picture. NO you cannot fish from this ship. I'll never get aboard another one then. Fine enjoy your first and last cruise. Wife has enjoyed 10 cruises since. I fished freshwater while she was gone.
You can sometimes book a fishing tour through the cruise line at one of the ports the ship stops at. More reliable and safer than walking the docks to find a charter. A little more expensive but the cruise ship won't just leave you if your late getting back to the ship usually.

If you want a real trip do some research and book a trip yourself. When the ship hits the port they usually will pick you up or you can walk to them. Cruise ship fishing charters usually suck. It is built in business and the boats and captains don't have to worry about their reputation. They pay a cut to the cruise lines. I have been on two cruise booked fishing trips and both were a huge waste of money. One in Cancun and one in Alaska.
Retirement best job ever.

limon costa rica, there are boats to take the cruise folks on the canal for wildlife viewing, they will also take you tarpon fishing. they will pick you up and drop you off. better check on how long in port on any of them, they don't wait for anyone. this is one of the river guides, we used them for fishing a few times.

figure on packing your own gear, not much available from the guides.
good fishing too about half a mile off the pier they dock at, tuna, spanish mackerel, jack etc.
couple of good hvy bass rods and 20#on a bigger reel.
shimano gt200 is what we took on 7' shimano hvy rods and we flew.
