Dont buy a CHEAP compression gauge. Get a QUALITY gauge for true readings. Warm motor up, then check. Have injectors EVER been checked, cleaned & flow tested???Has motor EVER been de-carbed??? Check spark to each cylinder. A lot of scenarios here. Sounds like its dragging a cylinder to me, but, a good mechanic would be a wise choice before running it any more. Your motor, your choice. Good luck & i hope its something simple like a coil pack not firing. (Another thing it COULD be) fairly inexpensive & simple to replace. I personally have not checked the things you have mentioned, but I only bought the boat last May. Before that a mechanic was doing all of the annual maintenance on the motor. I will put those on the list of things to check What compression gauge would you recommend buying? I'm not sure what would be considered quality or cheap. Would $20 be considered cheap? I say that because there are several on Amazon with good reviews around that price. One of these will work just fine for what you need. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200630836_200630836

we have had "terrible luck" with those...... tried a coupla of 'em... they read low every time.. checked against known accurate snap on that we use on big blower (BAE race) motors...

Doesn't seem that bad from the video. It wasn't as bad in that video, but when there is a little more weight in the boat it gets much worse. Also powering the boat onto the trailer is impossible since there is hardly any power on the low end.

Once I get it running how it was before this episode started, I will have to toy around with the prop...
I just changed the plugs, but I won't know if that was the culprit until tomorrow.

I'm having the same issues. My mechanic told me he was sure it was the ecm. Wrong. Now he's telling me it's got to be the prop. I think I've lost confidence in him. Not to hijack your post but is there a reputable mechanic around arlington area?
