Seems one member here posted that he bought one. Look down under Bill Gary's post regarding his new Propel Lt he just purchased.

I saw one at ACK in Houston and I was impressed by the Pilot's nice lines, its appearance.

The "on the water" reviews I have seen have been . . . rough. It appears it hit the market a bit premature and it has suffered issues with its drive unit. As best I can tell, some sort of "fix" kit has been made available to new owners. I think the issues have been grinding/noise and/or that the unit wiggles and isn't anchored well.

These things "can" be an issue with all new mechanical systems, of course, so purchases of first year drives can be dicey. Manufacturers might need a few more months but are under pressure to not miss a season, so they push them out and let buyers become field testers.

One other inexpensive new pedal kayak, but with a tested drive system, would be the Native Manta Ray 12 Propel. It'd be worth a look, too.

Brad
