crapicat: I was going to let that nasty thing go anyway. Probably has enough mercury in him to make a thermometer.
I did keep a few slot bass that kept eating my minnows to go along with the couple of crappie I found. Guess I'll need to figure out where the crappie spawn at Fork or give it a rest. You kept a few slot bass?? Did you mean to say that?

yes masterpro I kept those bass. I turned a bunch of them lose but kept 4 to make a mess of fish. Turned a nice yellow bass loose early I wish I would have kept.
Lake Fork bass exceptions:
Black bass For largemouth bass, length limit is a 16-24 slot. Bass 16 inches and less or 24 inches or greater in length may be retained. Only one bass 24 inches or greater may be retained each day. For smallmouth bass (if present), minimum length = 14 inches. No minimum length on spotted and Guadalupe bass (if present.) Daily bag limit for all four species = 5 bass in combination.

I know the law chief..... Normally a "slot bass" is one that's in the slot.....You kept fish under the slot I presume.

Yes, I got the crappie. Did not care about the bass. He was a fun fight but destroyed my pole.

Next time hook that crappie in the back instead of the mouth. You will have a better chance getting a hook in that big ol bass.

I had a 30+ Blue cat hit my jig when i tossed it into the top of some standing timber at Benbrook a couple years ago before i sold my boat and and my pro angler rod that is almost 8 ft handled it well! I fought that fish for what seemed to be forever. She got me wrapped up in that tree and took a while to get it unwrapped got her up to the boat 2 times and on the second time she took a dive and my jig popped out. I had Stren Clear blue 6lb test and a 1/16th ounce sickle hook jig on , I dont know how my line didnt break, And the hook wasnt bent at all. Very weird situation. I remember that i was worried it wouldnt fit in my net! And i have a big net.
