Being tired of 120 mile boat rides out to tuna grounds out of Port Aransas, I've been considering making a drive out to Venice this fall for the sake of a shorter boat ride and more time with line in the water for yellowfin. Unfortunately, I know nothing about the area and what it has to offer, and was hoping to get some advice here.
First, I wasn't able to find any "walk on" party boat for tuna on the tip of the peninsula. I'd prefer to do a private charter, but since getting a private party together can be like herding cats, I was wondering if there was this option is even available.
If not, who can you recommend for the most reasonably priced and reliable tuna captains out of Venice or the general vicinity?
Finally, after I'm done with the tuna trip, are there some good jetties to fish for reds, mackerel, etc. while in Venice?
Thank you for any information.

Thanks to all for the suggestions, I will look into these.
It's a shame that there are no walk-on charters (party boats) out of Venice or that area since assembling a group of reliable fishermen is always a hassle.
Incidentally, while I'm in Venice, are there good inshore fishing opportunities - any long jetties or piers to fish from for instance?

We went red fishin for three days prior to the off shore trip and everyday we went to Venice Marina and watched those guys come in and off load and everything we saw Hunter come in with the most and the biggest. We weren't disappointed on our trip, and if we go again it would only be with Hunter.

Voodoo is the best in Venice. I have gone out with Capt Trey for years. They are fun and first class customer service.

We fished a day with Damon McKnight and then a day with Will Wall last May. I would go Will Wall again any day.

Does anybody know if micheal pittman with venice charters is very good? I tried to book with Eddie Burger but he was unavailable the days I am able to fish. I tried paradise outfitters and they were full also.

I had a bad experience with Michael Pittman. I would not recommend him.
