It's probably my inability to navigate the TTF search feature but I need the advice of the masses on which hooks to use as replacements for the older Whopper Plopper 130.

I had a blast throwing one on a lake near Athens over the weekend but was constantly having to bend hooks back into shape after pulling fish through the milfoil we have - I was lucky to catch a big fish (8+) too but had to baby it around the boat over deep water so as not to pop a hook with braid and a 5 power rod...

I have two of the first run Plopper 130s with bad hooks - the hardware on the new ones is stout compared to the original hooks. What replacements have you all been using on the WP 130?

Thanks for the help.

Fish won't eat the damn thing so the hooks on mine are in great shape. About as bad a bait as the lateral perch.

I would have to get something to bite it first. Need to get it on a lake with grass. The bait that caused Chris Lane to miss the Classic according to his brother.

You can put KVD triple grips on them and it should work fine

The stock hooks suck, I've broke two. Yes broke, not bent.

WP 130

Size One wide gap round bend. You might try adding some mylar/tinsel/feathers to the rear hook.

I prefer wide gap round bends on topwaters, as bass can sometime just slap at them (although they usually try to destroy the whopper plopper)

The new models have more stouter hooks than the ones that first came out. The new hooks are stong as hell
