Made a quick video showing my disappointment when I learned PowerPRO 30lb braid snaps at 23 lbs!!! Snapped twice around 25 it looked like before I decided to video. I pulled a bit slower this time to make sure I was reading it correctly!

With drag in effect it should easily hold a 20lb fish though, did not expect it to snap before 30 honestly wife

I literally pulled a telephone pole out of lake Lewisville with 30lb powerpro... not sure what problems are happening here, but I also don't know how they actually test line strength per industry standards... your pole also acts as a large spring to absord load, and your drag does as well, so in practice, unless you have your drag cranked down and are horsing fish into the boat acting foolish, you shouldn't come close to line rating for anything over 15lb save for environmental hazards.

How old was the braid? Age will cause all lines to weaken over time...

For me it's 30# Power Pro for freshwater and 60# to 80# for saltwater. I've experienced the same as Mulholland. The things I have brought up with 30# braid have been impressive. Never lost a fish due to my line. Lost several due to fish biting through the leader but never broke the line. Maybe I've just been lucky, don't know....

Is it your knot pulling out? Braid has very little stretch, 4-5% where mono has 15% plus. Also mono bites on itself thru all the twists and turns on the knot. Did you tie a palomar knot and use superglue to set it? This will keep the knot from slipping and give you a true test. I used to work at a huge offshore fishing store and we tested knots and lines under ever condition....I still believe in the 12lb ultra clear Berkeley big game. Very resilient to Knicks, rubs, and saltwater.

IV heard of knock off power pro from China making its way to retailers and for sale all over the net so that could be the problem, also how accurate is the scale.
IMO IV used power pro and it's garbage step it up to suffix 832 or seagar smack down and never look back . I'll spend good money on braid knowing that if I fish twice a week hard on it Most likely it's going to last me about a year. kind of like you never know you had something so good until it was gone but reversed to you never know something is so bad till you find something better.
