They were coming in. All of the fish we weighed had eggs and all but one fish came in 6ft of water. The last one came in about 2ft of water.

LONG READ BUT WORTH IT.... We drew a late number pulled into our starting cove around 8:15 made 6 casts and trolling motor steering broke. First thought was hope the shop at RR marina is open on Saturday. I called it was open I explained the situation but they told me they do not work on trolling motors. I then ask if I could borrow a few small tools to disassemble myself. In an annoyed tone he stated "we do not do that" I thanked him for his help (In my own tone). I then called ALLSTAR ARCHERY AND MARINE in Lewisville they were more than eager to help, they said "hurry here we will be waiting on you". We loaded up drove to Allstar they (Dillon) met us in the parking lot with tool in hand. Dillon went to work and with a few parts we were back on the road and back on the water and making our 7th cast by 11:30. Long story short THANKS!!! to RR Marina for doing nothing and a BIG THANK YOU to ALLSTAR ARCHERY AND MARINE for stepping up for us crazy competitors. They have our support from now on,I hope this convinces you to do the same.. PS We did not do much good catching but it was not from lack of commitment..

We caught two 4 pounders in 7 fow within the first 30 minutes of pulling up to our spot. We were super fired up and thought it was going to be an awesome day. Wind started up and it got tough. Scrambled for another bite and got a 2 pounder so by 10:30 we had 3 in the boat. Fast forward it is 2:00 and all we've caught were 2 unders since our last keeper and are starting to get pretty discouraged. Lack of sleep and fighting wind is taking it's toll but my partner manages a bite and it's another 2 pounder. About 10 minutes later I say screw this, I'm going to sling a trap for the rest of the day and on about the 2nd cast hook into a 6 pounder.
Tough day but we got lucky had the right bites.

Did anyone else notice the black and green Phoenix behind the hot dog tent? The prop was shredded. I'm curious as to what happened?

I wonder if the boat in that pond in the back of Sand Branch ever got out... we were across the creek and could see the rooster tail of mud and hear the engine being reamed repeatedly.

I started the day boating 6 crappie (various sizes) with a chatterbait, so I put that down. Then I milked a 600 yard bank of dormant and emerging willow brush in one creek for 7 unders and my four keepers, had two more keepers on. Buuut, my spinnerbait wire snapped on "very nice" fish, and then I wrapped another nice fish on a dormant willow tree stem which got off while trying to wrestle him in. I slooow rolled the spinnerbait through the wind blown cover and got bit from 1 foot to 6 feet of water. I found one fish on a bed, but it would not hold. I left the area for about a half hour mid morning to go to two spots that were similar, each bank they had boaters there so I went back to my starting area.
Two of my three plastic battery trays had the screws pulled through the tray, time for some new aluminum T+H trays.
