I will do my best to help you tomorrow. Please send me a PM.. Been in Mex. for 12 days and need some rest tonight. So when exactly have you been on pk? 1997? Give advice on lakes you actually fish. To the op flip away as there are tons of good fish shallow.

It's a 2 hour drive for me .. one way. For the last three trips I've caught a total of 3 fish. I've fished out of south D&D and north D&D. I've primarily thrown Flukes and Senko's. When I went out of North D&D I went all the way up to Rock Creek but caught my only fish that day almost straight across from the ramp. I'm retired and I'll keep going as I love the lake but although I can catch a lot on Amistad I can't seem to do as well on PK. Any help would be appreciated!

I would not waste time on anything over five ft deep. All of my good fish came in one to three ft. Backs of creeks where I was fishing was 65-66 degrees, and full of shad. That was the giveaway. Catching was better using a spinner bait, jerk bait, or weightless fluke around the brush rather than flipping jigs under boat houses. Keep it moving- Find the secondary brush on the shallow shelves next to deeper water. That's where they were for me on Friday. I'm going back there next week instead of Fork. Also, I know I caught it before that front came through fishing Friday and I'm sure the fish knew it was coming. Good Luck

Great report. PK gives up some solid fish. Since the fall that lake has been very gracious to us

Gary you'all had a heck of a stringer. Jerry has taught his boys well and the older boy has fished with me and he can flip and pitch with the best. Again congrats on a good day.

I fished PK last Tues & Thurs and found them exactly like West Tx said but I used a Senko or Trick worm. Seems they are in every cove that has some brush on the sides. I didn't catch any over about 2 lbs but that is far better than I've been doing. I'll be going back Tues/Wed. I've been fishing that arm of the lake with Possum Hollow in it ... both sides.

I did fish PK last Friday also, and caught more fish. I didn't catch anything over 4 lbs. I wanted to try some other areas and different patterns since the fish seem to be shallow. So I moved over to the south side of Costello and caught fish on small buzz baits and the jerk bait again. There is grass mixed in with the reeds. I've never seen Hydrilla (sp) in PK but it does have grass. Interesting that the grass on the lower end seems to be a totally different type from what you will find on the north end. Also Mcginnis point, where the river swings in close to the shore then out again, leaves a shallow flat that was always full of grass. It was always good top water fishing and will be again once the grass starts to sprout. It hasn't had water on it in a long time. The top water bite is on, but once the sun comes up, it is amazing how many bass you can catch on a jerk bait around the docks. One dock produced 7 nice bass. I did have one fish that ruined a $20 jerk bait and after a long fight, it came off. I think that fish was a 10-12 lb striper and not a LMB. It is so good to see those west texas lakes come back strong. Hubbard Creek is experiencing the same thing. All they needed is water. Hubbard used to be the best lake in the state for 3-5lb bass and in one or two years, it will be again if the water maintains a decent level. I hate to stop fishing PK but we just got a place on Fork so almost all of my fishing is going to be East Tex now. I would still stay shallow on PK, one to five ft will keep you in the fish all day. Treat them right and let them go, and they will keep growing. Good luck to all the "West Texas Boys"

I love P.K. as big as it is it can be challenging. We had a lake house there for over 15 years as much as I like to bass fish, whites, stripers and catfish has provided my family all sorts of opportunity to catch fish. Lately carp are starting to be a lot of fun bowfishing.
