I had my tilt/trim motor repaired last winter. I believe the mech said he had it rebuilt or bought a re-built one. It began acting up again in July. I took it to the local shop to see if they could give me some advice. They tapped on it with a hammer and it began working again. I had to do that again a few times afterwards to get it too work. Fast forward to now, I've tapped and beat on the housing and it still won't work.(Yes, the battery is good) I am thinking of trying to change out the motor myself after seeing that they are not too expensive. I just can't figure out how to remove the old one. I have a 98 Mariner 150 on a 97 ProCraft Fish and Ski. Any help would be appreciated.

whacking trim motors with a hammer never fixes them.

if you have a large enough jackplate on it sometimes you can get to the fastner behind the trim motor that way if not the motor has to be taken off to get to it.
